How to learn?

The NATO/ICAO Phonetic Alphabet application helps you to memorize individual codewords. The app can also be used to quickly recall words you already know.

Familiarize yourself with the codewords that represent each letter.

• Browse letter cards alphabetically or in random order.

• Swipe the cards left to see the next ones.

• Try to recall the right codeword and say it out loud.

• Tap on a chosen card to reveal and hear the codeword.

Practice saying the codewords out loud and listening to the way they sound.

• Pay attention to the rhythm and flow of the words, as well as their individual sounds.

• Adjust the volume in the Settings panel. Tap the gear icon or long press the card to enter the Settings panel.

• By practicing regularly and listening closely to the way the words are pronounced, you should be able to quickly become proficient in using the NATO/ICAO phonetic alphabet.
